my motivational playlist

my motivational playlist

It’s Friday, folks, and it’s already spring break season! For me (even though I’m not a student anymore) this time of year tends to be a reality check when it comes to my health – am I where I wanted to be? Have I been as disciplined as I should have been? Regardless of the answer, I try not to beat myself up. Instead, I use it as an opportunity to learn what has or hasn’t worked for me and what I can fix moving forward.

When it comes to my workouts, having a motivational playlist is a must. I feel like it’s no shocker that a playlist can really make or break your workout – for me, having a playlist that excites + pumps me up increases the chances that I’m going to follow through with it, so I wanted to share my current workout playlist!

wellness wednesday: 3 amazing workouts to do at home!

Happy Wednesday, readers! I hope you are all hanging tight to some of the fitness goals you set for yourself in the new year! I know I have a preference for the gym setting for my workouts and attending fitness classes, but I know some of you either don’t have gym memberships or prefer to workout in the comfort of your own home.

the 3 most important lessons I’ve learned while being single

the 3 most important lessons I’ve learned while being single

I really have tried to refrain from talking about relationships or anything of the sort because I’ll be the first to admit, my experiences have been – quite frankly – a mess. I remember going into a couple Valentine’s Days feeling bummed about not having anything/anyone to celebrate, but this year I am perfectly fine with buying myself some flowers and curling up with my pup, a glass of wine, and Netflix. I’m grateful for what I learned from past relationships, but this time of being single has been nothing short of refreshing.

wellness wednesday: tips for getting active at work

wellness wednesday: tips for getting active at work

I’m no stranger to being confined to a chair all day. Nearly all of my jobs prior to my job now required standing, walking around, heavy lifting… even being a student I was constantly darting around campus and easily racking up 12,000-15,000 steps a day – so starting a desk job was a little bit of a culture shock for me. At first, in terms of my health, it didn’t seem so bad. But eventually the weight gain began, my spine and neck started to feel all out of whack, and my energy level was at an all time low.

the southern sooner takes on youtube!

the southern sooner takes on youtube!

I knew this day would come eventually, but I am so excited to announce that my first YouTube video is officially LIVE! 2019 has already been a huge year for the blog with over 2,150 views in January. Perhaps a small feat to some, but I could not help but be blown away by the Lord’s goodness as His hand has become so evidently present in The Southern Sooner’s growth.

wellness wednesday: the power of plant based

wellness wednesday: the power of plant based

Okay, so it’s actually Thursday by the time I’m getting this up because it ended up being a little bit more of an undertaking than I intended. This is definitely a topic that I could talk about for forever, but I had to try and find a way to write about it without boring y’all lol. This was initially supposed to be more of a review over the documentary What the Health, but after struggling through the first half of the film I finally made it to the part that I could actually get on board with. I’ll precursor this post too by saying that documentaries are stressful and they need footnotes. I need to see the research they’re looking at for myself lol
