summer in the south is in full swing. it’s not usually something we look as it generally feels we’re going to melt within seconds of stepping out the door; we either find ourselves aggressively avoiding having to step foot outside or spending hours down at the pool or water parks to try and keep cool.
when it comes to sunscreen, there seems to be a lot of controversy. I googled “sunscreen news” and saw mostly negative headlines saying things like, “are you getting burned by your sunscreen?” and “most sunscreen products don’t even work.“ everyone has become up in arms over the chemicals in sunscreen and how they are probably causing more instances of skin cancer than overexposure to the sun. it honestly feels hard to keep up anymore – we almost feel like we just have to decide between the lesser of two evils. here are some things I keep in mind when I’m choosing sunscreens. before I get started with this post, I’m not claiming to be a professional when it comes to love – not even in the slightest. I’m just as human + just as flawed as the next person. but as I have listened to a particular song, more and more I have started to wonder what has happened to the concept of love + what it’s supposed to be.

this update is a couple weeks behind, but for half of this month I was on half of my regular dosage to help cut down on the weird side effects I started seeing in month 4. buuuut lucky y’all – it’s looking like these accutane journey posts may extend past 6 months! this process has been all over the place between me forgetting to take it some days, having to travel nearly 200 miles for refills, my followup appointments being inconsistently spaced lol so it’s looking like I might end up on an extra month of Accutane, which I personally don’t think will hurt. Hopefully I’m not someone who will end up having to do a second round of it all (if anything because I’m tired of being pricked by needles every month). but let’s go ahead and get started with this month’s update!

I’m having such a hard time grasping the fact that 2018 is already halfway over. this year so far feels like such a blur – lots of ups and downs alike, but I’ve been finding a lot of strength through it, too. I’m looking forward to what the last half of the year has to offer. today I wanted to round-up my favorite posts of the year so far!

studies health + exercise science in college, sucks at eating fruits + veggies. not because I don’t like them, but they feel kind of easy to forget, or maybe I’m just not eating as healthy as I should be in the first place lol. I know a lot of times I mean well and will buy ingredients to make salads and what not, but then I either forget about it until the produce goes bad or I feel too lazy to take the time to wash + chop veggies. I choose to think it happens to the best of us.

forgive me, I am fully aware I have been m.i.a. from the blog for a while. to be truthful, resources and post ideas have felt rather exhausted over the last month or so, which has been pretty frustrating for me if I’m being completely transparent with you. similarly, though, I think God has been trying to provide me with a time of rest and vision.

I love my skincare + makeup as much as the next girl. I love pampering myself – doing at-home spa days, using smoothing + anti-aging skincare lines, getting glammed up… because who doesn’t love feeling comfortable in their own skin? but what if I told you that beauty is not just skin deep?
