world mental health day: guest submissions

for so long my heart has been to help end the stigma surrounding mental health. I am vocal about my own struggles because I believe talking about it not only frees me from what feels like my own personal prison, but allows others to see they’re not alone and hopefully find their own strength to come clean about theirs. but the thing about my own mental health is that I only have my own experience – everyone’s triggers are different and not every person overcomes it in the same way.

I have always wanted to have guest posts about mental health, so I took it to social media to collect stories regarding other people’s experiences. the submissions were made anonymously to make it easier for people to share their hearts. please note that those who shared have made themselves vulnerable and have donated their raw, honest stories for the sake of helping others. please respect their courage to speak out.

forgive me, I am fully aware I have been m.i.a. from the blog for a while. to be truthful, resources and post ideas have felt rather exhausted over the last month or so, which has been pretty frustrating for me if I’m being completely transparent with you. similarly, though, I think God has been trying to provide me with a time of rest and vision.

Today is National Love Your Pet Day! And for any of you that follow me on social media, you know I treat every day like it’s Love Your Pet Day. My little Arlyn Wyatt (who’s not so little anymore!) has changed my life for the better in ways that I didn’t think he would. When I first got him (read that story here) of course a lot of me thought “oh it’d just be so much fun to have my own dog!” But I didn’t anticipate just how much joy + life he would bring into my life.

how I cope with a not-so-great day

Even the most happy-go-lucky people run into bad days – not that I’m saying that’s particularly me, because Lord knows I definitely hit my wit’s end. My point being, we all experience some not so desirable days/situations, and we all search for ways to alleviate the frustration. Everyone has different ways they like to destress, but here’s generally how I cope with my less than perfect days.
