I knew this day would come eventually, but I am so excited to announce that my first YouTube video is officially LIVE! 2019 has already been a huge year for the blog with over 2,150 views in January. Perhaps a small feat to some, but I could not help but be blown away by the Lord’s goodness as His hand has become so evidently present in The Southern Sooner’s growth.Continue reading “the southern sooner takes on youtube!”
Hello my loves! I’ve had a lot of requests for routine-type posts, but truthfully I feel like it took me until the last few months to get a truly good routine going. I remember when I graduated college I thought it would be so easy to have a routine when it was the same schedule every day, no homework to come home to, or whatever the case might have been, but I found that finding my “adult” routine took a lot of trial and error. Also, with all my skincare changes between treating acne, Accutane, and now coming off Accutane, I haven’t been sticking with one particular routine for long, so I waned to make sure I found the skincare + beauty products that I knew I wanted to stick with before sharing. And I’m so excited because I have the opportunity to host another giveaway here on The Southern Sooner – so be sure to keep reading for details!Continue reading “my evening routine: skincare + at-home teeth whitening”
All I have to say is that the Christmas hangover is r e a l this year, you guys! This Christmas was a little different than most because my grandparents got to spend their holiday with my cousin on the west coast. I can definitely speak for the rest of my family when I say their presence was missed, but we had a really good time celebrating just the five of us. It’s certainly left me feeling so so so blessed.
But now it’s time for another month of raves + rejects! The raves were certainly easy to do, but the rejects were hard to decide on since I’ve been in Texas – away from Oklahoma where all the items I consider a “reject” are – so I couldn’t simply sort through my things and go, “oh yeah, I don’t like this” lol. But somehow, I managed. this post includes affiliate links, meaning, at no cost to you, I will earn commission if you click through and make a purchase.
this is a post I’ve been looking to do for quite some time now and I really question why + how I haven’t gotten around to it yet. but I’m so excited to finally share some fun products with y’all!
it is so surreal that I am OFFICIALLY DONE WITH ACCUTANE!!!! overall, my journey has lasted about 12 months. I had my initial consult last november and started my preliminary lab tests. as far as the medication part, I ended up being on it a little longer than normal, just because we weren’t seeing the progress we were hoping to by month 6, but if it’s what kept me from having to go through the process all over again, then I’m not complaining. truthfully, I would have been done a lot sooner but I was so bad about missing a random day here or there that it delayed my end date. oops, but oh well.Continue reading “my accutane journey: months 8 + 9”
hello wonderful readers! I’m sorry that I have been so silent lately. as I have mentioned in some blog posts before, my creativity has been lacking – so, in attempts to get ideas and opinions of what it is exactly that readers want to see, I asked my Instagram followers send me their ideas.
one of the responses I got was about gaining confidence. this is a popular but hard topic to write about because I feel like finding confidence in yourself is not a cut-and-dry template for everyone. it takes identifying your insecurities, why they are what they are, and doing whatever necessary to cut them down.
the submission specifically said “how to believe you’re beautiful to have a happy life + gain confidence.” my first comment on this is that it’s backwards, and I’ll explain why.Continue reading “choosing confidence”
I decided to do this update a little differently by combining the last couple of months into one post. month 6 was actually a very bad month in terms of progress, so it was frustrating (and little embarrassing) and I felt like it didn’t warrant an “update” post since it regressed rather than progressed. I’m not sure whether it was my diet or stress or both, but at one point I had about 3 pimples on my forehead, 2 on my cheek, and 1 on my chin at a time – I’m talking like, the worst breakout I’ve had since first starting the medication. but oddly enough, month 7 was the complete opposite and I have had zero breakouts. keep reading to see the before + afters and to see some exciting news!Continue reading “my accutane journey: months 6 + 7”
