It’s been a little over 6 months since I finished up Accutane, so I figured it was about time that I update y’all on how my skin has been doing since then. In brief, it’s been a lot of ups and downs – more recently, things haven’t been going as well.Continue reading “6 months post-accutane”
Happy Friday! We made it! There really are weeks when it feels like Friday will never come – seeing as how I woke up Tuesday morning and immediately thought “it’s Friday!” only to realize it was definitely not Friday… I’d have to say it was one of those long weeks for me.
It’s been a while since I’ve shared some of my favorite Instagram accounts with y’all, so I wanted to list some of my recent faves! You might have seen my recent post about going flexitarian – changing your diet in such a big way can seem kind of intimidating, but it always helps to surround yourself with encouragement + support. That’s why I found some plant-based accounts to follow so I can stay motivated, encouraged, and inspired. Whether you’re flexitarian, plant-based, vegan, or not, all of these feeds are super fun, colorful, and were aesthetically pleasing, so you might find them fun to follow, too!Continue reading “follow friday: my favorite plant-based instagram accounts”
I knew this day would come eventually, but I am so excited to announce that my first YouTube video is officially LIVE! 2019 has already been a huge year for the blog with over 2,150 views in January. Perhaps a small feat to some, but I could not help but be blown away by the Lord’s goodness as His hand has become so evidently present in The Southern Sooner’s growth.Continue reading “the southern sooner takes on youtube!”
Hello my loves! I’ve had a lot of requests for routine-type posts, but truthfully I feel like it took me until the last few months to get a truly good routine going. I remember when I graduated college I thought it would be so easy to have a routine when it was the same schedule every day, no homework to come home to, or whatever the case might have been, but I found that finding my “adult” routine took a lot of trial and error. Also, with all my skincare changes between treating acne, Accutane, and now coming off Accutane, I haven’t been sticking with one particular routine for long, so I waned to make sure I found the skincare + beauty products that I knew I wanted to stick with before sharing. And I’m so excited because I have the opportunity to host another giveaway here on The Southern Sooner – so be sure to keep reading for details!Continue reading “my evening routine: skincare + at-home teeth whitening”
All I have to say is that the Christmas hangover is r e a l this year, you guys! This Christmas was a little different than most because my grandparents got to spend their holiday with my cousin on the west coast. I can definitely speak for the rest of my family when I say their presence was missed, but we had a really good time celebrating just the five of us. It’s certainly left me feeling so so so blessed.
But now it’s time for another month of raves + rejects! The raves were certainly easy to do, but the rejects were hard to decide on since I’ve been in Texas – away from Oklahoma where all the items I consider a “reject” are – so I couldn’t simply sort through my things and go, “oh yeah, I don’t like this” lol. But somehow, I managed. this post includes affiliate links, meaning, at no cost to you, I will earn commission if you click through and make a purchase.
this is a post I’ve been looking to do for quite some time now and I really question why + how I haven’t gotten around to it yet. but I’m so excited to finally share some fun products with y’all!
it is so surreal that I am OFFICIALLY DONE WITH ACCUTANE!!!! overall, my journey has lasted about 12 months. I had my initial consult last november and started my preliminary lab tests. as far as the medication part, I ended up being on it a little longer than normal, just because we weren’t seeing the progress we were hoping to by month 6, but if it’s what kept me from having to go through the process all over again, then I’m not complaining. truthfully, I would have been done a lot sooner but I was so bad about missing a random day here or there that it delayed my end date. oops, but oh well.Continue reading “my accutane journey: months 8 + 9”
