hello lovelies! I hope you all had a pleasant weekend, whether that was getting some relaxing peace and quiet, getting chores done, or spending time with friends. mine was a combination of all three! friday was my rest day, saturday I managed to get some organizing + deep cleaning done, napped, went to the gym, and then sunday I attempted to meal prep (but more on that later) and finally made my way over to the Norman medieval fair.
over the three years I’ve lived in Norman, I had yet to go to this annual fair until this past weekend. I had been to medieval fairs in the past, mostly in my elementary homeschooling days, but there was certainly a lack of interest on my part in those days. I wasn’t really planning on going this year either until a couple of friends invited me to go, so I decided “why the heck not.”

2017 was my first time to do Soonerthon. I had heard about it since before I started attending OU via social media from friends + acquaintances that were already here, and I always thought that it sounded like a lot of fun. 2017 was my first year to be involved and I was bummed I hadn’t done it sooner.
And it’s finally that time of year – on Saturday, March 3, I will be participating in my second Soonerthon Dance Marathon as an OU alumna with a fundraising goal of $500. Last year I reached my goal of $100, and I knew that this year I wanted to do more. It’s just such a FUN and fulfilling experience to be a part of, and here’s why.

My little Arlyn Wyatt (who’s not so little anymore!) has changed my life for the better in ways that I didn’t think he would. When I first got him (read that story here) of course a lot of me thought “oh it’d just be so much fun to have my own dog!” But I didn’t anticipate just how much joy + life he would bring into my life.

It’s officially time to spend every other Saturday at the Palace on the Prairie, sing Boomer Sooner [literally] hundreds of times, and lose my voice cheering like a champion for my favorite boys. It’s football time in Oklahoma.

My decision to get a dog in the first place was kind of sudden. Every so often I would look around the animal shelters in town and make myself sad that I don’t have a dog. But a couple weeks ago, I found a puppy at the shelter that I felt incredibly drawn to. I went and looked at her during my lunch break, crunched some numbers, and realized I’m more capable of being able to own a dog than I previously thought – so I planned on going back and getting her after work. However, she was adopted not long before I got off. I was a little bummed, but knew deep down it was probably for the best.
