summer in the south is in full swing. it’s not usually something we look as it generally feels we’re going to melt within seconds of stepping out the door; we either find ourselves aggressively avoiding having to step foot outside or spending hours down at the pool or water parks to try and keep cool.
when it comes to sunscreen, there seems to be a lot of controversy. I googled “sunscreen news” and saw mostly negative headlines saying things like, “are you getting burned by your sunscreen?” and “most sunscreen products don’t even work.“ everyone has become up in arms over the chemicals in sunscreen and how they are probably causing more instances of skin cancer than overexposure to the sun. it honestly feels hard to keep up anymore – we almost feel like we just have to decide between the lesser of two evils. here are some things I keep in mind when I’m choosing sunscreens. this update is a couple weeks behind, but for half of this month I was on half of my regular dosage to help cut down on the weird side effects I started seeing in month 4. buuuut lucky y’all – it’s looking like these accutane journey posts may extend past 6 months! this process has been all over the place between me forgetting to take it some days, having to travel nearly 200 miles for refills, my followup appointments being inconsistently spaced lol so it’s looking like I might end up on an extra month of Accutane, which I personally don’t think will hurt. Hopefully I’m not someone who will end up having to do a second round of it all (if anything because I’m tired of being pricked by needles every month). but let’s go ahead and get started with this month’s update!

I love my skincare + makeup as much as the next girl. I love pampering myself – doing at-home spa days, using smoothing + anti-aging skincare lines, getting glammed up… because who doesn’t love feeling comfortable in their own skin? but what if I told you that beauty is not just skin deep?

month 4 is done! my dermatologist mentioned that this is where I would start to see a lot of breakthrough with my acne and dude he was right. I went a whole week without seeing a pimple! I have gotten a few this month, but they were fairly spaced out, and likely related to my diet (which has not been the best lately – oops). I have started to see some of the more undesirable side effects start to kick in, which is a bummer because it is starting affect what I can do throughout the day, but they’re not so severe that it’s completely inhibiting me. so if you’re curious to see how month 4 went, just keep reading!

hair – it can really make or break your look, can’t it? I practically live by the phrase “your hair is the crown that you can never take off,” so I do everything I can to use products that are going to style it well + keep it healthy; and one of my go-to products recently is Navy Hair Care’s Prep + Finishing Spray. if there’s one thing that gets me super excited about Navy Hair Care is that it’s my first partnership where they reached out to me *cue baby-blogger freakout* and boy am I glad they found me because this product has truly been one of the best additions to my hair care collection!

hello lovelies! I hope you all had a pleasant weekend, whether that was getting some relaxing peace and quiet, getting chores done, or spending time with friends. mine was a combination of all three! friday was my rest day, saturday I managed to get some organizing + deep cleaning done, napped, went to the gym, and then sunday I attempted to meal prep (but more on that later) and finally made my way over to the Norman medieval fair.
over the three years I’ve lived in Norman, I had yet to go to this annual fair until this past weekend. I had been to medieval fairs in the past, mostly in my elementary homeschooling days, but there was certainly a lack of interest on my part in those days. I wasn’t really planning on going this year either until a couple of friends invited me to go, so I decided “why the heck not.”

it’s official – I’ve hit the halfway point of this Accutane journey! It’s crazy to realize it’s the downhill stretch from here. My dermatologist said that this 3/4 month point is where I should start to see a lot of real breakthrough with my skin.
